Biography
The history of Graine goes back to one song that Jaakko and Janne recorded in 2002. Both of them felt that the result was strong enough to where they could build on it and possibly write some more songs, which they did.
During the first 2 years, the band focused its energy on writing and recording demos. Most of the songs never reached any wide audience, with the demos being handed out mainly to friends and family. Then, in 2004, Jaakko and Janne decided to send a four song demo to Yle-X radio’s weekly demo contest. Surprisingly, one of the songs (All Alone) made its way into the contest and actually won demo-of-the-week honours. At this point in time, the band still used its original name Saf (Short A Fuse).
After this achievement, the founding duo thought it was time to bring an actual drummer into the fold. After some searching, Janne asked Juha if he would be interested in playing on the band’s next demo. Juha agreed to take on the task and the recording sessions for the this one time-demo began. With a proper drummer in their ranks, Graine produced a demo that finally sounded like a band playing, and not just two songwriters recording their tunes. Once again, a couple songs were sent to Yle-X and the outcome was once again positive, as If Only won the demo-of-the-week contest.
Graine's lastest demo, Toward the Fade, was finished in July, 2007. The band is already hard at work on its next release, which is scheduled to be recorded during the coming fall, 2007.
